Definition:
Plötsliga, oväntade anfall av intensiv rädsla eller ångest (panikattacker) i kombination med ihållande oro för att få nya panikattacker eller betydande och maladaptiv beteendeförändring på grund av panikattackerna.
Förekomst:
Livstidsprevalens cirka 0,5–4 %, mer ändubbelt så vanligt bland kvinnor.
Symtom:
Anfall av plötsligt påkommen intensiv rädsla, hjärtklappning och yrsel.
Kliniska fynd:
Normala kliniska fynd. Eventuellt stegrad ångestnivå.
Diagnostik:
Typisk anamnes. 
Behandling:
KBT i första hand, eventuellt antidepressiva läkemedel.
