Generaliserat ångestsyndrom (GAD)

Definition:
Uttalad oro, under flera månader, kring flera olika händelser eller aktiviteter de flesta dagar tillsammans med symtom (se nedan).
Förekomst:
Livstidsprevalensen är cirka 3–6 % och ungefär dubbelt så vanligt hos kvinnor som hos män.
Symptom:
Typiska symtom är rastlöshet, trötthet, koncentrationssvårigheter, irritabilitet muskelspänning och/eller sömnsvårigheter.
Kliniska fynd:
Eventuellt tecken på ångest. I övrigt normala kliniska fynd.
Diagnostik:
Typisk anamnes, eventuellt stöd av M.I.N.I.  Bedömning av psykiatriska differentialdiagnoser eller psykiatrisk komorbiditet. Kompletterande undersökningar om andra sjukdomar misstänks, till exempel blodprover för att utesluta hypotyreos, hypertyreos eller anemi.
Behandling:
I första hand KBT, och vid behov läkemedelsbehandling.
