Knäledsartros

Definition:
Knäledsartros innebär degenerativa förändringar i knäleden.
Förekomst:
Ett vanligt tillstånd, särskilt i högre åldrar.
Symtom:
Tre vanliga symtom är smärta, stelhet efter inaktivitet och nedsatt funktion. Smärtorna kan vara intermittenta, konstanta och störa nattsömnen.
Kliniska fynd:
Typiska fynd är krepitationer (ett knastrande ljud som kan höras och kännas i en led med artros), nedsatt rörlighet och en svullen knäled. Nedsatt gångsträcka. 
Diagnostik:
Diagnosen ställs med hjälp av anamnes och kiniska fynd. Röntgen är indicerad vid oklar diagnos, behandlingssvikt eller för att utesluta andra mer sällsynta orsaker.
Behandling:
Beror på graden av besvär och förekomst av faktorer som kan förbättra symtomen: fysisk träning, viktnedgång, avlastning, fysikalisk behandling, läkemedel och kirurgi. Kirurgi är i regel endast indicerad om icke-kirurgisk behandling inte har gett tillräcklig effekt.
