Kotkompressionsfraktur

Definition:
Ihoppressning, kompression, av ryggkota.
Förekomst:
Mycket vanligt och förekomsten ökar med stigande ålder. 
Symtom:
Akuta ryggsmärtor hos äldre personer. Cirka 2/3 av alla kotkompressioner är asymtomatiska och upptäcks vid undersökning på grund av annan indikation.
Kliniska fynd:
Palpationsömhet vid tryck över området med den akuta frakturen.
Diagnostik:
Röntgen-, DT-, MR-undersökning eller bentäthetsundersökning med vertebral fracture assessment (VFA) är de mest relevanta undersökningarna om det finns behov av bekräftande diagnostik.
Behandling:
Smärtstillande vid behov. Eventuellt utredning och behandling för osteoporos.
