Sömnapnésyndrom

Definition:
Obstruktiv sömnapné förknippat med symtom, framför allt dagtrötthet.
Förekomst:
Förekomst av obstruktivt sömnapné syndrom uppskattas till 6 % bland män och 4 % bland kvinnor, ökad förekomst med stigande ålder och övervikt. Hos barn 1–2 %.
Symtom:
Onormal andning under sömn med snarkningar och andningsuppehåll. Medför frekventa uppvakningar, nattlig hypoxi och dagtrötthet
Kliniska fynd:
Ofta förekommer övervikt, kort och kraftig hals, högt blodtryck och eventuellt obstruktiva förändringar i svalget.
Diagnostik:
Polysomnografi/nattlig andningsregistrering.
Behandling:
Viktminskning. CPAP är i de flesta fall av allvarlig sömnapné den bästa behandlingen. Apnéskena eller i sällsynta fall kirurgi med vidgning av luftvägar kan vara alternativ.
