Hörselnedsättning hos äldre

Definition:
Presbyakusis är en sensorineural, symmetrisk hörselnedsättning med jämn försämring under många år och där diskanten drabbas först.
Förekomst:
Bland personer äldre än 65 år har cirka 65 % hörselnedsättning.
Symtom:
Tillståndet karaktäriseras av nedsatt hörsel och språkförståelse i bullriga miljöer, långsammare central bearbetning av akustisk information och nedsatt förmåga att lokalisera ljudkällor.
Kliniska fynd:
Normala fynd vid klinisk undersökning.
Diagnostik:
Typisk bild vid audiometri.
Behandling:
Hörapparat och/eller andra hörseltekniska hjälpmedel.
