Spinal stenos

Definition:
Symtom till följd av förträngning av spinalkanalen med risk för tryck mot medulla spinalis eller nervrötter.
Förekomst:
Vanligast hos personer >50–65 år.
Symtom:
Smärta/domningar under gång eller i stående ställning, som strålar ut i säte och ned i lår, underben eller fötter.
Kliniska fynd:
Neurologisk undersökning är oftast normal. 
Diagnostik:
Diagnosen ställs med hjälp av anamnes och bilddiagnostik (i första hand MRT).
Behandling:
I första hand smärtlindring och fysioterapi. Kirurgisk behandling kan övervägas vid intensiva besvär och på noga utvalda patienter.
