Spänningshuvudvärk

Definition:
Form av (primär) huvudvärk som karakteriseras av tryckande, icke-pulserande huvudvärk som ofta är bilateral, med mild–måttlig intensitet.
Förekomst:
Mycket vanlig form av huvudvärk. 
Symtom:
Huvudvärk enligt definitionen. Ljus- eller ljudöverkänslighet kan förekomma. 
Kliniska fynd:
Ofta normala fynd vid klinisk undersökning.
Diagnostik:
Diagnosen ställs med hjälp av anamnes och klinisk undersökning. 
Behandling:
Kortvariga episoder kan behandlas med analgetika. Frekventa episoder eller kronisk spänningshuvudvärk kan behandlas med bland annat tricykliska antidepressiva samt icke-farmakologiska åtgärder.
