Definition:
Malign tumör i esofagus, antingen skivepitelcarcinom eller adenocarcinom.
Förekomst:
Antal nya fall i Sverige under 2012−2016 var årligen i medeltal 349 män och 208 kvinnor. Genomsnittlig ålder vid tidpunkt för diagnosen är cirka 70 år.
Symtom:
Dysfagi, smärtor, uppstötning av osmält mat.
Kliniska fynd:
Viktnedgång och nedsatt allmäntillstånd. Välgrundad misstanke enligt standardiserat vårdförlopp, se kortversion för primärvården (RCC) .
Diagnostik:
Diagnos ställs genom histologisk undersökning av biopsi tagen vid endoskopi.
Behandling:
Strålbehandling, cytostatika och/eller kirurgi beroende på typ av tumör och lokalisation/utbredning.
