Definition:
Humant papillomavirus (HPV) är ett DNA-virus som kan infektera hud och slemhinnor hos människor. Orsakar bland annat livmoderhalscancer .
Förekomst:
En studie visade att upp till 79 % av sexuellt aktiva kvinnor förvärvar en genital HPV-infektion under livet, men hos de flesta är infektionen övergående och asymtomatisk.
Symtom:
Sjukdom kan manifestera sig som kondylom, eller som låg- eller höggradiga intraepiteliala lesioner, vanligast på livmoderhalsen.
Kliniska fynd:
Eventuellt kondylom .
Diagnostik:
Kan påvisas med HPV-DNA eller HPV-mRNA test.
Behandling:
Från och med 2012 ingår HPV-vaccination i det nationella barnvaccinationsprogrammet och erbjuds till alla flickor som är i 11–12-årsåldern. Från och med augusti 2020 kommer HPV-vaccination att erbjudas alla barn i årskurs 5, även pojkar.
