Hepatit E

DEFINITION:
Hepatit E är en akut hepatit som orsakas av hepatit E-virus (HEV). Smittan är vattenburen, eventuellt är den också överförbar från matvaror eller direkt från djur.
FÖREKOMST:
Epidemisk form ses ofta i låginkomstländer. Sporadiska fall med smittan ses i höginkomstländer. Hos individer med normalt immunförsvar blir smittan inte kronisk.
SYMTOM:
Inkubationstiden är 3–8 veckor. Prodromalfas ses ofta med allmänna symtom, senare ses ikterisk fas och därefter gradvis rekonvalescens.
KLINISKA FYND:
Ikterus, eventuellt ses förstorad lever och mjälte.
DIAGNOSTIK:
ALAT är förhöjt, PCR kan utföras på blod eller avföring, positiv HEV anti-IgM ses i symtomatisk fas.
BEHANDLING:
Konservativ, symtomlindrande och stöttande behandling. Hygieniska förhållningsregler vid resa i endemiska områden.
