Herpes simplex

Definition:
Recidiverande utbrott av små grupperade blåsor på rodnad botten, ofta orolabialt eller genitalt, i vissa fall som primär gingivostomatit, förorsakat av Herpes simplex virus typ 1 (HSV-1) eller 2 (HSV-2).
Förekomst:
I den vuxna befolkningen i europa har cirka 60–90 % HSV 1-antikroppar och 5–40 % HSV 2-antikroppar. Livstidsprevalensen av orolabial herpes är 20–40 %.
Symtom:
Primärinfektionen är ofta asymtomatisk, men kan i vissa fall ge svåra symtom med gingivostomatit och feber. 
Kliniska fynd:
Vid recidiverande herpes ses grupperade blåsor på rodnad botten orolabialt eller genitalt, ibland på fingrar.
Diagnostik:
Diagnos kan oftast ställas på typisk klinisk bild.
Behandling:
Självläkande tillstånd. Barn med akut gingivostomatit kan behöva stöd för att få i sig vätska.
