Definition:
Vårtor, verruca vulgaris, är den kutana manifestationen av humant papillomvirus (HPV).
Förekomst:
Sällsynta före femårsåldern och bland vuxna. Hos skolbarn är prevalensen av hand- och fotvårtor 3,9–4,9 % (brittiska data) och är vanligast i 12–16-årsåldern.
Symtom:
Vårtor kan vara smärtsamma beroende på lokalisation, till exempel på fotsulorna och nära naglarna.
Kliniska fynd:
Det skiljs mellan vanliga, periunguala, platta, filiforma och plantara vårtor. Vanliga vårtor har ojämn yta, är kupolformade, kan förekomma var som helst på kroppen och är ofta multipla.
Diagnostik:
Typisk klinisk bild.
Behandling:
Om vårtorna inte orsakar obehag är behandling inte nödvändig. De flesta vårtor går spontant tillbaka (95 % inom 5 år bland skolbarn). Salicylsyra har bäst evidens för effekt (finns receptfria preparat på apotek). Kryoterapi är ett alternativ.
