Oral lichen planus

Definition:
Lichen planus (LP) är en kronisk, inflammatorisk sjukdom som manifesterar sig i hud- och slemhinnor. Oral LP (OLP) är en subgrupp som ofta drabbar medelålders personer.
Förekomst:
OLP förekommer hos 1–4 % av befolkningen och ses främst bland äldre kvinnor.
Symtom:
Utvecklas långsamt med bilaterala vita striae, papler och plack som kan ge sveda och brännande obehag. Det är vanligen de erytematösa och erosiva lesionerna som ger mest obehag.
Kliniska fynd:
Retikulära, erytematösa och/eller erosiva lesioner i munslemhinnan.
Diagnostik:
Undantagsvis behövs biopsi och histologisk bedömning.
Behandling:
Behandlingen är kronisk och symtomlindrande. Undvik faktorer som förvärrar besvären. De flesta svarar bra på lokal steroidbehandling.
