Definition:
Akuta inflammationsförändringar i glandula tyreoidea där hormon läcker ut i cirkulationen och orsakar initial hypertyreos. Kan bero på flera orsaker – från infektiösa till autoimmuna.
Förekomst:
Tyreoidit är vanligt.
Symtom:
Graden av hypertyreos och hypotyreos varierar mellan olika etiologier, men klassiskt är att tyroiditerna har ett bifasiskt förlopp då sköldkötelhormon läcker ut i cirkulationen och sedan följs av en hypotyreot fas då sköldkörteln ofta återhämtar sin funktion (sker i 80–90% av fallen).
Kliniska fynd:
Kliniska fynd kan bland annat vara förstorad sköldkörtel och tecken på hypertyreos.
Diagnostik:
Aktuella undersökningar är CRP, SR FT4, TSH och autoantikroppar.
Behandling:
Behandlingen beror på typ av tyreoidit.
